Hello, is this on, testing one, two, can you hear me mother?

Well here we are, it's the twenty first century, and I think it's about time I got over my incomprehension of this modern technology mularchy, and drag myself out of the tenth century.

Not that I have been literally living there, but I have spent the last oh, nigh on ten years researching and reproducing the practical crafts of the Viking Age. And safe to say that in that time the internet has moved on a bit, so bear with me while I get used to some of the things that are now possible.

Why am I here? Blogging that is of course, not in an existential sense. Well, I guess it's partly my Archaeological training... I am feeling an overwhelming need to publish in any way I can some of the thoughts and practical results of my work, and I never was much of a writer - ask my lecturers - and I get the distinct impression, looking around the web that there are people out there who are interested in getting closer to our ancient ancestors through the medium of the artefacts they left behind, and what they could (potentially) tell us about their society, way of life and technological abilities. Or, if I can ever work out how to get pictures on here, you could just enjoy looking at the pretty objects.

Anyway, that's the plan, now how do you work this.

Jim
